Fuji Sushi - my absolute favorite sushi restaurant in Vancouver!

Vancouver is famous for its geographical location, nature, rain and (at least for me) sushi! Thanks to the high availability of fish and a strong asian population there are about 300 sushi restaurants in Greater Vancouver. However, only 10% of them are actually Japanese-owned and operated. So if you look for authentic Japanese cuisine, make sure to visit these restaurants. One of them is Fuji Sushi at Burquitlam Plaza (526-B Clarke Road, Coquitlam) and is very close to the Lougheed skytrain station (approx. 10 minute walk up North Rd. from the skytrain station).
What should I say? It's my absolute favorite sushi restaurant in Vancouver! The fish is very fresh. It either was caught locally (e.g. salmon) or it is delivered fresh from Japan every day via plane. That means the fish which get sold in the morning at Tsukiji market in Tokyo ends up in Vancouver for dinner at the same day. Further, for the quality you get, the prices are reasonable. You can have a variety of different sushi, sashimi, appetizers and other Japanese meals for about 15 to 25 Canadian dollars per person.
The restaurant has a strong Japanese audience. A sign of authenticity, I would say. Unfortunately, I don't speak Japanese so I can't read all the signs at the wall that indicate which Japanese fish they currently have
If you go there, make sure you say Hi to Ken Namatame, one of the sushi chefs there and tell him I say hello. Maybe he will offer you some off-menu items. Ask for the tuna - it's awesome! He knows a lot about fish and sushi. Please watch my two videos. I had the luck to interview him with my camcorder.
