Sasamat Lake

Posted by Bernhard Finkbeiner • Wednesday, April 14. 2010 • Category: Outdoors
Sasamat Lake is a cozy little lake just north of Port Moody with a nice trail. It is close to popular Buntzen Lake. Sasamat Lake is quite small but it is not as crowded.

I came across this lake the first time at vancouvertrails.com about a year ago. The trail is not very long. It is approximately 8 km (3h) and is divided into two parts. The first one is the loop around the lake and the second one, which includes an elevation of 100 m, is a dead-end way that leads away from the loop at some point.

So you have two options. The short and flat loop around the lake and some more kilometers up the hill. The first option is good if you are looking for a nice Sunday afternoon walk. The second option involves some more effort but the path ends with a spectacular view down Burrard Inlet. So it is worth it!

Also there's a beach and you can swim and BBQ at Sasamat Lake. So if you want to enjoy a relaxing day at the beach, Sasamat Lake might be what you are looking for.
